Metal forging plant for tools and the automotive sector

An interesting application of EBARA 3LS SERIES electro-pumps for cooling towers in a metal forging plant based in Turkey.

The plant is equipped with a series of presses, hammers and ovens for forging components such as car piston rods, alloy wheels for cars, cam shafts for cars, axial shafts for cars, gears, hammers, clamps and various tools.

The recirculation system for controlling the plant’s temperature is linked to a series of pumping systems that channel the water into the cooling towers.

The pumped liquid (clean water at 25°C) reaches the pumps through a manifold with 400 mm diameter, and is expelled through another manifold with 300 mm diameter at a pressure of 3 bar.

The 3LS SERIES, made of microcast AISI 316 stainless steel, was chosen to replace the cast iron pumps of competitors, as they are more reliable in terms of material resistance and guarantee improved energy saving within the plant.

The plant contains 3 pump batteries, respectively:

• 3 x 11 kW pumps 3LS SERIES (2 duty + 1 standby)
• 3 x 22 kW pumps 3LS SERIES (2 duty + 1 standby)
• 3 x 22 kW pumps 3LS SERIES (2 duty + 1 standby)

The AISI 316 stainless steel 3 SERIES pumps guarantee excellent returns on the investment, thanks to the high efficiency of the microcast impeller that allows for achieving efficiency levels of up to 85%.
